Design of metal hydride reactor with embedded helical coil using optimization methods

Abstract Metal hydride offers an efficient and cost-effective method to store hydrogen. In this study, Taguchi coupled with grey relational analysis was used optimize the design parameters i.e., diameter of helical tube (d h ), major m number turns (N) velocity heat transfer fluid ( V f ) for exchanger embedded inside metal bed achieve minimum desorption time (t d 80% outlet temperature (T 0 (HTF). The performance all experiments in orthogonal array Grey evaluated by 3-D numerical simulations performed commercial software COMSOL 5.3a. This stepwise methodology is significantly computationally as required reduced 90% compared traditional parametric study-based methodology. Further, enables estimate optimized level considering objective functions , T simultaneously. Later, optimally designed systems it found out that system designs have better terms t when other array. These will then be refrigeration cooling applications.
